A synopsis of Double Z merchandise and marketing campaigns

Along with television production Double Z have 21 years experience in licensing. The company have produced extensive merchandising and marketing campaigns for their characters in Ireland, the U.K and Europe.

Zig and Zag

The Zig and Zag brand spawned three major licensing campaigns; the first in Ireland (1988) is considered as the first comprehensive merchandising campaign for home produced characters in Ireland. A second larger campaign was based in the U.K and Ireland (1992) and with their own show on MTV show a third campaign was mounted in Europe (1994). The licencing campaign included a platinum selling single 'Them Girls,Them Girls' (produced by Simon Cowell!), No.1 selling plush toys, books, comics, molded collectables, stationary, clothing ranges, postage stamps, board and electronic games and deals with Kelloggs, Pizza Hut, BHS, Nestle, BMG, HB, The Sunday Mirror newspaper, An Post national postal service, Golden Wonder, Vivid Imaginations, Polygram, Yoplait and Cadbury.

Podge & Rodge

With the success of their award winning adult talk show Double Z have produced a wide range of licensed products based around the Podge & Rodge characters including DVD's, Talking Plush Toys, a No.1 bestselling book 'The Ballydung Bible', a Potato chip snack range,a full clothing range: T-shirts, socks, nightshirts, slippers, a weekly newspaper column, two sold out live Stage shows: 'Desperate for Housewives' 2006/2007 'It's a Podge & Rodge Show - Get Me Outta Here' 2008 and deals with Dunnes Stores, RMG, Warner Video, Tayto, Microsoft, The Star newspaper and Aiken promotions.

Dustin the Turkey

Dustin the Turkey is another of Double Z's extremely successful puppet stars appearing on children¹s television for twenty years. Dustin the Turkey has had an amazingly successful recording career in Ireland, with six multi-platinum selling albums, seven No.1 singles. In 2008 Dustin won the public vote to represent Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song 'Irelande Douze Pointe'. Other spin offs include talking plush toys, a weekly newspaper column, books, DVD, five sellout Christmas stage shows and deals with The Sun newspaper, Glanbia, EMI, Sony, Eircom, MCD, ESB and Bus Eireann.
